Many people decorate their houses, outside and in, but many forget about their bathroom. Remember people spent alot of time in there and the don`t have much to do, so they look around. Make sure you decorate that room too.

Take an inexpensive silk evergreen garland and place over mirror. You don`t even have to attach it. Usually will stay with just tucking a piece or two of garland behind the mirror. Than take inexpensive Christmas flowers, or Christmas colored flowers and stick in the garland. You usually don`t even have to wire them on. Be careful not to put too many on the garland. In some places place one, some two, and some place three together.

Change your shower curtain to a Christmas one. You can buy them, or if your handy you can make one. You don`t even have to sew. You can use that fusion tape. You can use any fabric, doesn`t have to be Christmas, just Christmas colors. The one pictured is just red fabric but looks so jolly.

Put a Christmas or Christmas colored placemat on top of toilet tank and add a few Christmas knick nacks and you have a fast, fun, and inexpensive quick change.

Another great use for old bowling balls is to use in your home. Place 3 bowling balls under a coffee table or in empty corner and they look like large marbles. How fun?? I took an old silverplate bowl, which has some nicks, alittle rust, and lots of tarnish.
I bought regular size pool balls, and mini pool balls and mixed them up in the bowl. These pool balls I have are somewhat old, but you can get newer ones if that`s all you can find. It makes a wonderful colorful centerpiece. This will look great in a porch, play room, on a pedistal, or even on a counter or desk.
I have talked to some people that collect only certain numbers on pool balls. There are many people who collect all kinds of balls and display them in bowls. I took a very old enamel ware bowl which doesn`t have to be in perfect condition. In fact has more charactor if it doesn`t. The one pictured is rusty and is even missing one handle. I filled it with old wood crochet balls, very old childs wood blocks, and 6 old shuffle board discs. All were not that hard to find or that expensive.
Looks wonderful because of the different shapes and textures. If you would like you could use some Briwax on the wood items which will bring the wood grain out.
This arrangement received lots of attention.

I took an old collender which has been used alot, has dents, some rust, and missing a handle and fulled with old childs wood blocks. The contrast of the enamel bowl and the wood and the colors is wonderful.

Anyone who has a punch bowl, and especially a very old, beautiful one like this one knows the problem of storing when not in use. Now you don`t have to pack it away and fear it might brake.
Leave the bowl and cups out and decorate for the different seasons. I filled the punch bowl with glass balls. Looks great with a single color, or a mixture of colors. The color glass really show off the glass of the punch bowl.
Change the glass balls for the different seasons, or just for a change.

If you have alot of Santas or even alot of Snowmen or Gingerbread men, you can make a display with impact if you group them on table or shelf.
You can even place a string of mini Christmas tree lights on table and cover with cotton batting. The light will show through the batting and give a warm effect. Place boxes under the batting to raise some Santas up higher. By raising some up, it will give your display demension. This will work in hutches too, just a little more work, but looks great.
If you group like items you will make a bigger impact. Repeat if necessary.
GREASE take granulated sugar and water, make paste, rub into stain, let set before washing.
Scorch dipped in borax and water, then let dry in sun. Will work if not to scorched.
WAX use ice cubes to harden. Scrape off as much wax as you can, with a knife, making sure you don`t cut, or tear fabric. If fabric is washable, place over bowl or sink and pour boiling water on the wax. If not washable, put fabric between a few pieces of clean fabric, press with iron.
RUST take lemon juice and salt and make paste. The old school maps from the 50`s, 60`s and 70`s and which huge on the wall and the teacher would pull down are now very collectible and useful.

Not only can you hang on wall to show guests where you came from or your favorite state, but they can be used as shades. Hang over windows in any room and when you pull them down they are colorful and also educational.

I came from Wisconsin and have a Wisconsin map from the early 60``s in my bathroom. Guest tell me they learned more about Wisconsin than they want to know. (Smiling)

Stand or hang plate to fill vertcal space in cabinet, behind stacked dishes.
Mix prints, paintings and plates into groupings. Spot light favorites with wall sconces or spotlights.
Be really different, fill empty mantle apron with hanging plates.
If you have more plates than you can hang, incorporate plates in tabletop vignettes.

Silk (or even real plants) always look great and soften the look of any room in any home. They make your home look homey warm and welcoming. If you have real plants they will help with the air quality too.
I love silk plants. Most now days look very real. Don`t just place in boring pots, use items that normally never would be used for plants. The picture shows some silk herb plants sitting in a silverplate punch bowl. The combination of green plants and the shiney silver is a wonderful look.

One of my antique merchants takes an antique flour sifter, lays it on the table and places the silk plants in that. Search your garage, basement, attic for any old or vintage picture frames and hang on wall. Don`t worry if you don`t have pictures or photos go into them. Frames come in all sizes, styles, woods, colors and some are carved, gold leafed or painted.If you don`t have any just shop the antique stores, thrift stores and garage sales. Most antique stores have many beautiful frames for just a few dollars. Of coarse the better the condition, carving and type of wood raises the price. If they are not in good shape paint them.

Grab a hammer and nail and start pounding. I suggest you lay them on the floor to see what pattern you want to hang them. Turn them side ways, upside down, caddy corner and don`t forget to place smaller ones inside the bigger. This will be enough, but if you want more you can add some postcard, old photos, vintage plates, etc. Just nail or place a small piece of rolled scotch tape or double sided tape on back. The photos don`t have to fit the frames. It actually looks better if you place a few in each frame.

You can leave that way or you can do like I did in the picture and add depression glass dishes to add a little sparkle. The long narrow boards that are in the photo are antique pelt strechers. Would also look great with enamalware, ironstone almost anything you want.

This is a very fun, fast,inexpensive way to decorate. You can add your own touches to this idea.
